Salvation Articles

George MacDonald referred to the doctrine of imputed righteousness as “a revolting legal fiction.” There is so much change needed in Evangelical thinking about salvation that I have approached the subject from many angles. Most of the articles below overlap in their subject matter. Read them only one at a time. Give each article time to sink in and bring understanding, then read another on your next visit. Questions will come up, but they will almost certainly be dealt in the other articles.

It is important, however, before reading any articles to know that salvation has nothing whatsoever to do with understanding the theology of salvation. Salvation comes from Christ, is powerful and real, and is given to all who will give up their own lives to obtain his. People who follow Christ can have some of the most terrible theology, yet bear the fragrance and fruit of a disciple of Christ. People with perfect theology can easily wind up in hell, though I would think that if their theology is really perfect, they already know that's their destiny.

When Philip “preached Jesus” to the Ethiopian eunuch, the eunuch knew he needed to be baptized. Since baptism is thus part of the preaching of Christ, it should be part of our salvation page, too.
