The Church
When the Protestants rightly left the Roman Church, they left a lot behind that should not have been left behind. One of those things was an understanding of the church. Contrary to popular belief, it was not St. Augustine (c. A.D. 400) who first said that there is no salvation outside the church, it is stated throughout the writings of earlier Christians, and for good reason. In fact,Paul himself said that the church is “the pillar and support of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15).
